I have found my people!!

Yes, in a desperate attempt to "Google My Way To Gaming," I finally, finally discovered my own little Mecca, complete with fellow worshippers. Awesome. Personally? I think every decent sized area should have a group like this. RPers, unite! Hey, if we could control the LARPers, we could quite possibly take over the world. Their attempts to cast spells will confuse someone into surrendering.
It's good to be feeling good again. My Funk was quite vicious and had its teeth in me for a while. But now I'm back, and very excited to be potentially playing in a weekly game. Other fun news: I will be going to an intro to Publishing seminar all day on Wed. and then proceeding to a publishing Happy-Hour afterwards. Which reminds me I have to tell my buddies in the online heavily chat based play (which I dislike) Buffy-based RPG that I will be unavailable to chat. Well, I can tell them pretty much what my character would be doing anyway. It's probably going to be a very chatty session and my character really isn't fitting into the particular chats lately.
Anyway, I'm going to be learning a system called "Aces and Eights" which is apparently Ye Olde Wylde Wylde West" setting. My immediate reaction is "Now, Caitlin, don't start shouting GORRAM REAVERS! every time something goes wrong" They didn't have Firefly-Class spaceships in the dustbowl states.
I'll let you know if things work out. October 4th is when I'll probably be meeting people, it should be a good time.
Anyway, I have laundry to fold. 'Til next time!

Hi, Caitlin, great blog! I'm so happy to hear how happy you are to have found the Role Players of Long Island (www.thenewrpli.com).
For the entire 1990s I though RPGs were a thing of the past. I wanted to play some good games with good people.
Like you, I would Google periodically, for players looking for players. I would find old posts on gaming boards, and if I was able to contact someone, they were very remote.
After 10 years, in 2003 or thereabouts, I finally found a group. Just 2 or 3 guys depending upon people's schedules. Shortly after that we started RPLI, not to create a big group that knows everyone, but just to show that there are games out there on Long Island. And to show the games no matter where they were on Long Island.
RPLI is there to show that gaming is alive and well on Long Island, and to help people -- lost in a land of no games in sight -- find other gamers in there area.
So I'm happy you're happy. I hope RPLI will continue making people happy for years to come.
