Quote(s) of the Week

"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Joss Whedon's Firefly

Sci-Fi fans everywhere have hailed this show as the best ever made. Tragically, Fox didn't realize the huge potential and failed the fans by taking Firefly off the air. Still, that didn't stop the HUGE following from forcing them to consent to making a movie- Serenity- and potentially a sequel. Anyone who even remotely likes Sci-Fi needs to pick themselves up a copy of the series and watch it. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT watch the movie first.

Changeling: The Lost

Out of all the White Wolf games I’ve played, almost played, GM’d, or watched being played, I have to say that this one intrigues and inspires me the most. For anyone who ever liked fairytales- the real, nitty-gritty ones, not just the Disney-riffic family friendly types- this is a simply-ruled, wonderful, scary, complex and beautiful RPG you MUST try. It is a limited 6-book series, and by August you can pick up CtL and all its supplements at once. Of course they’re releasing PDF files of prewritten games on the White Wolf site if you want more content. Make sure you have the World of Darkness Core Book in order to play!

WALL-E

If you haven't seen Pixar's latest feast for the eyes, you should. Not only is is visually stunning but the characters are compelling and the story has a good message. The lonely little robot Wall-E with his limited vocabulary will, I assure you, win your heart.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

I LOVE cartoons. Disney's Gargoyles was a HUGE obsession of mine. So when I say Avatar is extraordinary- beautifully animated, a great story and unforgettable characters- I hope you realize how much that means coming from my mouth. Er. . . Keyboard.

Heroes

There are a lot of STUPID shows on TV nowadays. Despite a lackluster second “season” which poorly put together between a writers’ strike and a company trying to wrest control from the creator for the sake of making money, Heroes is still one of the best TV shows out there. Average Joes being superheroes is always fun to watch.

Mushishi

MuShiShi is quite possibly my favorite Manga. I’m always excited when I know another volume is coming out. Each story is melancholy and contained, detailing the relations between humans and the mysterious, primordial—almost magical—creatures known as Mushi, while following the journey of Mushishi (“Mushi master”) Ginko. It has a great feel to it—especially if you like more serious Manga. Also, some of the covers are really, really pretty
